Update: Missing Waccamaw High student found safe

PAWLEYS ISLAND — A 14-year-old boy who was reported as missing has been found safe, according to the Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office.

The sheriff’s office was seeking help in locating 14-year-old Matthew Gauge Ard, a student at Waccamaw High School, who was reported missing from his Hagley Drive home on Aug. 31.

His family is unsure where he had gone, and his phone had been turned off, according to the sheriff’s office.
