MYRTLE BEACH — The Golf Tourism Solutions tournament division is adding a 12th amateur event on the Grand Strand.
The organization announced March 14 the inaugural Short Par 4 Girls Palmetto Tournament of Champions will tee off this fall at True Blue Golf Club in Pawleys Island from Sept. 16-17.
The 36-hole tournament will bring the best high school girls golf teams and players in the Carolinas to the Grand Strand. A dozen teams from North and South Carolina, including 10 state championship teams, will be invited to participate along with the top 12 individual players whose teams did not win state titles. Event entry is free.
“The Short Par 4 Tournament of Champions will be an opportunity for premier high school girls programs and individuals in North and South Carolina to test themselves against the best of the best,” Golf Tourism Solutions tournament director Scott Tomasello said. “We believe the event has the opportunity to be one of the highlights of the prep golf calendar and playing at True Blue…will only enhance the tournament’s appeal.”
True Blue Golf Club has previously hosted a number of collegiate events and South Carolina High School League championships.
Other amateur events run by the Golf Tourism Solutions tournament division include the PlayGolfMyrtleBeach.com World Amateur Handicap Championship and the boys Palmetto High School Golf Championships, a spring tournament.
“Growing the game through junior golf is a passion for the entire Short Par 4 company,” Short Par 4 Chief Revenue Officer Todd Stires said. “We are excited to be part of this great event and look forward to making buying apparel and accessories a little easier on all of the parents.”
Short Par 4 will provide players with a gift bag to coincide with the launch of the company’s new Junior Membership Box.
