MARION, S.C. — Only 4,194 registered voters participated in the 2018 primaries. The election season returns Tuesday June 9 with the Democratic Primaries.
There are several contested campaigns on the ballot, starting with incumbent Marion County Sheriff against challenger Levon Rhames.
Wallace defeated Rhames in the November 2016 general elections.
Wallace, a Democrat with more than 20 years of experience in law enforcement was elected Marion County sheriff, receiving 84 percent of the vote against the then Republican Rhames.
Rhames started his career in 1982 and is now running as a Democrat.
Mullins native and Marion County Clerk of Court Christy M. Gray is running for reelection against Bobby Page of Mullins.
A runoff date is set for June 23 if necessary.
