Liz Truss officially became the new British Prime Minister. Truss flew to Scotland to meet with Queen Elizabeth today marking the final formal step in her ascension to Prime Minister. Shortly before Truss’ meeting with the Queen, acting Prime Minister Boris Johnson, gave his resignation to the monarch making it possible for Truss to take over the role. Johnson’s resignation comes after he was forced to quit recently after lawmakers lost confidence in his ruling. Johnson also made a public speech outside of Downing Street, making a nod to the lawmakers that moved to oust him from his position and also declined to apologize for the scandals over honesty and integrity that sunk his tenure. Truss is expected to make her first speech later today.
