Honduras Expected To Cut Ties With Taiwan For China

Taiwan’s foreign ministry expressed concern and shared that they request for Honduras to cautiously consider and ‘do not fall into China’s trap’ or make a wrong decision to damage their long-term friendship.

Honduras is expected to establish diplomatic relations with China which is a move that would result in cutting the abiding official ties with Taiwan.

The diversion of connections comes weeks after Honduras President, Xiomara Castro said her government was negotiating with China to construct a hydroelectric dam.

After the announcement, Taiwan’s foreign ministry expressed concern and shared that they request for Honduras to cautiously consider and ‘do not fall into China’s trap’ or make a wrong decision to damage their long-term friendship.

Under China’s principle, no country is allowed to maintain official diplomatic relations with both them and Taiwan.
