China’s president will meet with Vladimir Putin for the first time since the Russian invasion began. It was confirmed today by both Beijing and Moscow that Xi Jingping will fly to Russia next week to meet with the Russian president. Though the trip will be viewed by many as China showing support for Russia, the country says Jinping will be there to promote peace and encourage talks between Russia and Ukraine. Russia added that “an exchange of views is also planned in the context of deepening Russian Chinese cooperation in the international arena. Jinping will be there Monday through Wednesday.
